AS THE CROWD WARMS TO THE FIRST RAYS OF LIGHT

A bird song shatters the still as I arrived into Monterey for the 2009 Monterey Historics. The natives greet me from above. Exhausted from my 120 mile road trip, I feed the soul at my favorite restaurant, MacDaunalees, for some fine cuisine and breathtaking outdoor dining. I need to kill some time before my friends arrive so head off to Carmel’s Ocean Avenue for some serious boutique shopping (window only). I drop Franklins like cell calls. That’s how I roll.

Okay…so I was broke as hell that weekend from purchasing a new camera and lens the night before. The only money I wanted to spend that weekend was on a signed Jesse Alexander book at the track. He’s one of my favorite photographers.
