So, how was THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO? I give it “zero cigarettes” on my own personal rating system. The less I think about smoking during the movie the better the movie which is saying a lot for this flick since one of the main characters is a chain smoker. However…I’m not sure I am one to ask how good a movie is. I am of the opinion that most people think a good movie is measured by three main ingredients: a lead actress that requires a stunt double for her running scenes so she don’t get black eyes, a lead actor with an IQ smaller than the circumference of their bicep and an explosion count greater than the director’s salary.
Plus, my opinion of this movie is skewed because I like David Fincher, Daniel Craig and Trent Reznor. For me, it was really the perfect “dark” storm. I will watch it again before it leaves the theatre and buy it when it comes out on DVD. I’ve said this before in my interview with GQ magazine (there was no interview with said magazine), I will watch it over and over with the sound off just to absorb the visuals. I will anxiously wait for the next two movies.
People are comparing it to the Swedish version but that confuses me. It’s not a remake of that movie. It’s an adaptation of a novel. It’s like comparing a cover song by two different bands. Just compare it to the original source. I have not seen the Swedish version.
So should you go see it? I hope you are sitting in the theater reading this before the lights turn down.
