I GOT MY LUNCHBOX AND I’M ARMED REAL WELL

Two deliveries today.

First delivery, my latest ebay acquisition – a “vintage” Thermos lunchbox. For whatever reason, I’m attracted to anything old, crusty and rusty. Think I’ll keep it as a storage bin on the Steelcase tanker desktop for frequently used items like CF card reader, earbuds and iPhone cable.

Second delivery, my wife finally gave birth to a healthy kidney stone this morning! That was a grueling 12 days. The stone literally looked like a morning star. I’m not talking about something beautiful in the sky at sunrise but rather those medieval weapons. Totally brutal.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

  1. Is that one of those luchboxes in which Johnny Cash smuggled his ’55/’56/’57/’58/’59/’60/’61/’62’/’63/’64/’65/’66’/67/’68/’69 Cadillac home………..??

Good to hear the wife got rid of that thing… Must be good to get back to normal life after so much pain.

    Cheers,

    -M.

My Dad worked at North American Aviation in Hawthorne, Calif. in the mid-50’s until 1961 and he carried a lunch pail like yours to work everyday. Glad your wife has gotten past her ‘big hurt’ !
    Cheers,
    Tom

That’s cool Tom! Figured it was from that era.

I indirectly stumbled on the lunchbox searching for something else but once I saw it I hit the buy it now button. Just kind of neat to have around the house.

  4. Mark Morrissey says:

Nice patina on that box Bob. All you need now are a nice, beat up pair of coveralls to wear and you’re good to go.

  5. John Glynn says:

EEEEK sounds brutal for poor ST! ‘Pass’ on my best wishes (sorry LOL).

  6. JLC says:

    Bob, great purchase !
Don’t touch………the “trace” of the time in any object is the best…it’s the life !
It’s the better than the ultimate restoration.

I used a lunch box like that as my college portfolio. Sandwiched my art between plexi. Still got that thing. Nice score. And congrats to wife for ridding that pesky stone.

  8. Neo7th says:

For few years I’ve been wanting to buy a similar lunchbox and keep it as a symbol to what I wanna become/be inspired by Marilyn Manson’s song with the same title.

How much did it cost you?!

  9. Bob Tilton says:

I got it off ebay for cheap…I think $10.
