The first three entries were suspect. I held back on posting them thinking the submitter didn’t understand the rule “must be your own photo” and that he submitted factory photos. After an exchange of emails…turns out he took them back in 1967 at the factory!
This is our exchange:
Great stuff! Did you take the pics? I require photos be taken by submitters and these are nice enough to be factory shots.
Yes, Bob.. I took them at the plant on June 16th and Jun 17th 1967 when I took delivery of my 1967 Slate 912. I took 35mm sides as well as Super 8 movies on that 3 month trip. I had the movies transferred to DVD a couple of years ago.
The one picture of the back of the plant is of particular interest. It was taken on June 17, 1967 the day after I took delivery. I brought the car back to the plant because it had some moisture in the driver side head light. I brought it back to have it fixed before leaving on a 10 country, three month, camping vacation. If you look closely at the picture of the back of the plant you will see a workman repairing my car in the center of the photo. I took these pictures while waiting for it to be fixed. I use this photo at shows and just recently discovered that two of my slides could be put together to form a panorama of this event. I have attached that composite picture for your interest. Of all the snaps I have taken of the Slate in 44 years. I think these two together.. really tell the story of that magical trip in this wonderful machine.
